Privacy
Short version: we keep an email list, we count page views, and we do not sell your email address to anybody. Three advertising and analytics companies count those page views alongside us, and every one of them is named below.
What we collect
If you give us your email address through the Porchlight sign-up, we store that address, the page you signed up from, your IP address, and the date. That is the whole list. We do not ask for your name, your postal address, or anything else.
We also use Google Analytics 4 to see which pages people read and which shirts they click, plus tags from Meta and Pinterest that tell us when a visit arrived from Instagram, Facebook, or Pinterest. All three work from cookies and your IP address, not your name, and none of them are connected to the email list. The Cookies section below names every one of them and says what it is for.
What we do with it
The email address goes to Enginemailer, who send the Porchlight for us. We use it to tell you about new shirts, new writing, and sale windows. Roughly twice a month.
We do not sell your address, rent it, trade it, or hand it to anybody for marketing. Enginemailer and Google are service providers, not customers.
Buying a shirt
Checkout happens on our Printify Pop-Up store, not here. When you click a buy button you leave this site. Your name, shipping address and payment details are handled by Printify and their payment processor under their own privacy policy — we never see your card details, and we do not receive your address.
Cookies and trackers
Three of them run on this site. Here is the entire list, and what each one is doing.
- Google Analytics — counts visits, which pages get read, and which shirts get clicked. Run by Google.
- Meta pixel — tells us when a visit came from Instagram or Facebook and whether it ended in a click through to the store. Run by Meta.
- Pinterest tag — the same job, for visits arriving from Pinterest. Run by Pinterest.
Meta and Pinterest are advertising companies. Their tags let those companies recognise your browser on other sites, which is the machinery behind retargeted ads. We do not hand either of them your email address and we do not sell your address to anyone — but their tags are on this page, and you should hear that from us rather than find it in a browser inspector.
Most browsers let you block or clear cookies in their settings, and the tracker-blocking ones will stop all three. Nothing here breaks if you do.
Your choices
Every Porchlight email has an unsubscribe link at the foot of it. One click and you are off the list.
If you would rather we deleted your address outright — or you want to know what we hold — write to us and we will do it. Depending on where you live you may have a legal right to access, correct, or delete what we hold, and we will honour those requests regardless of where you live.
The trackers are a separate question from the email list. Blocking cookies in your browser stops them; unsubscribing does not, and neither does anything we can do at our end. If you want to know what we hold either way, the address below reaches a person.
Children
This site is not aimed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect anything from them. If a child has signed up, tell us and we will remove it.
Changes
If this policy changes we will update the date at the foot of this page. If it ever changes in a way that materially affects people already on the list, we will say so in an email rather than quietly editing the page.
